Journey Ads from The Departure Tour 1980

After the Departure Tour in 1980 ended, Billboard Magazine put out a special edition of ads thanking Journey for the great Tour.

The Departure Tour was Journey's biggest tour to date, covering almost 100 dates between the dates of March 28, and October 13, 1980.

Neal George Joseph Schon was born in Oklahoma on February 27, 1954. He turns 61 today.

At age 5, Neal began playing the guitar. Ten years later he was playing with Carlos Santana.

Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie along with Walter "Herbie Herbert formed the band "Journey" in 1973

Neal and Michaele were married on December 15, 2013 at 8:00 PM.

Neal has been Journey's Lead Guitarist since the inception of the band in 1973.

Neal has made many solo albums and continues to play guitar with whoever he can.

Happy Birthday Jonathan Cain of Journey!

Jonathan Cain turns 63 years old today. He was born Jonathan Leonard Friga in Chicago, Illinois on February 26th 1952.

The Baby's brought Jonathan into the group in 1979 and appeared on their next two Studio albums as well as all the "Greatest Hits" albums.

In 1981 a band named Journey asked Jonathan to replace one of the founding members of the band which would drastically change their sound.

Jonathan has been a member of Journey since 1981 which includes eight Studio albums, one EP, and countless "Greatest Hits" albums.

Journey's fan club newsletters keep getting bigger.

This edition has pictures of Gregg Rolie and full color pictures of Steve Smith.

Among the exciting news is that Steve Smith and producer Kevin Elson teaming up for Vital Information's 3rd album. Steve Perry's Street talk goes Platinum and Gregg Rolie's debut album has been postponed.

The next 4 pages feature black & white pictures of the band with a little introduction to each member of the band.

The Departure Tour started on March 28, 1980 in Oakland, California and lasted for 7 months. The Baby's were the opening act for most of the Tour. Finally the Tour came to and end on October 13, 1980 in Japan.
