Journey finds a new singer in Arnel Pineda. Without a singer in 2007, Neal Schon discovers Arnel Pineda on the internet.
Journey has been riding on the success of finding a new singer and capturing an area of Asia they haven't yet tapped into.
In this video, I show you the different versions of 2008's Reveleation Album as well as the History of Journey diagram inside the Japanese version.
Ron of the Jungle!
ReplyDeleteThat was really a strange decision by Neal to re-record the old Steve Perry hits with Arnel. Most bands, when they get a new singer, naturally perform the old hits live with the new guy. But no one, as far as I know, has ever re-recorded them. Was he trying to cut Perry out of future royalties by pawning off the new tracks as if they were the originals? If so,what a dick move!
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, I do remember a band doing just such a thing. At the end of the movie, 'Magic Mike', the Foreigner track "Feels Like the First Time" is played. But listen closely, in my opinion, it's not the original recording. For the last several years Foreigner has been using a sound-a-like singer for original front man, Lou Gramm, and I think they re-recorded it.
Yes, it was to keep Steve Perry from some money when they played live or something like that.
