Journey's 40th Anniversary

Journey was formed in February, 1973 and officially named "Journey" in June, 1973.
This would make Journey 40th Anniversary last year and it's too late now.
Journey's first album was released on April 1, 1975, so the 40th anniversary of that is next year.

I'm not sure when Journey officially would call the 40th anniversary, but I say we get to celebrate it until next April!

Here are a couple stickers I have from the 30th Anniversary 10 years ago...

Stephen Ray Perry was born on January 22, 1949 at 6:05 in the evening.

He grew up in Lemore, California where he attended and graduated from Lemore High School.

He worked on his stepfather's turkey ranch as a carpenter and at 18 he left for Los Angeles to fulfill his dream of being a singer.

Journey's "Oh, Holy Night" instrumental song from 1984

To kick off the first song I'm placing on the new "Rare" page. This page will feature unreleased or rare versions of songs by Journey or Steve Perry.

The first song is an instrumental that was given out to Journey Fan Club members who came in second prize in a contest back in December 1984.

Journey at the Greek Theatre

It was a great night. This was the first time I would see Journey in 17 years.
This time I'd be taking my wife, so at least I had a date this time.

As usual I arrived early, I had my ice chest full of beer, so I was set. When it was time we walked to the gate and on the way to our seats, I noticed that something was different than I remember from the concerts in the 80's and that there were Police and Security everywhere. I bought the usual shirt and things, but there wasn't a program to be had.

With a handful of beer, we waited for the show to begin and it started with John Waite (The Baby's). By the time Peter Frampton was done, I was ready for Journey to take the stage!

As soon as the lights went out and the music began, that familiar waft that I remember so fondly from Journey concerts of the past filled the air. Now it felt like a concert at last!

What a fabulous night under the stars it was. As usual, Journey put on a phenomenal show. The new singer, Steve Augeri, did an excellent job although he just stood there. An hour and a half flew by and suddenly the show was over...
