JOURNEY "Generations" Italian Press Release from Frontiers Records

On August 29th, 2005, Journey released their second full album with Steve Augeri on Vocals.

Billed as Melodic Rock, Journey's "Generation" hit the streets on August 29th, 2005. This featured the same lineup as Journey's 2001 album, "Arrival" and 2002's "Red 13". Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory, Dean Castronovo, and Steve Augeri make up the band.

2005 also marked the 30th Anniversary of JOURNEY. The band celebrated by giving at least one song top each member. Of course Steve Augeri sing the most number of them.

This ad is from Italy and is two-sided. Both sides are shown below.

Journey's Concert Ticket Evolution Through Time part 8, Voices

2005 was Journey's 30th anniversary since the first album was released! Journey was celebrating their 30th by having every member take a shot at lead vocals on at least one song on the new album, "Generations". This may have been a misfire as most of the songs do not sound like Journey. It is nice to hear the different voices, so maybe if the songs were better it would have a difference. The band also gave the album away at the concerts so there wasn't any reason for anyone to buy it.

Maybe the reason to use all of the bands voices was to cover up what was tragically happening to Steve Augeri. It seems Journey's grueling touring schedules have strained his voice. Unable to finish out the 2006-2007 Tour, he was replaced by Jeff Scott Soto to finish out the Tour. Apparently people didn't really like the different voice and demanded a Steve Perry soundalike. This would be the only Tour for Jeff with Journey as he never became a member of the band.

Ticket Prices continue to rise. By now the lowest ticket price listed here is nearly $40.00. My tickets at the Pechanga Inn were a ridiculous $85.00 each for a show that wasn't any different than the show I saw in 2001. This was the last time that I have seen Journey in concert. The crowd were middle aged fans and then some younger adults who probably don't even know who Steve Perry was. I didn't see many teenagers at the show.

The shows consisted again of the greatest hits from the Steve Perry era. Jonathan still enjoyed being Gregg Rolie while Deen Castronovo sang a few songs to ease the strain on Steve Augeri. Ross Valory always keeps consistent while Neal Schon wails on his guitar, so at least we had that.

Journey Through Time - 30th Anniversary Sticker and Tour

The Journey Through Time 30th Anniversary Tour A.K.A. The Generations Tour 2005.

Steve Augeri was the Lead singer at the time and they were no longer with Columbia Records when this album and Tour began in 2005. This also marked the beginning of the end for Steve Augeri as his voice was starting to give.

This Sticker commemorating the 30th Anniversary of Journey incorporates all of the Steve Perry Era album cover art including, Infinity, Evolution, Departure, Escape, Frontiers and Raised On Radio, into one great piece of art!

Journey Generations Promotional Flat and Poster

The Journey Generations promotional flat is also a poster. It folds out into a great 12 X 24 inch poster advertisement.

In the video I will show you all three releases that I have of the album starting with the one the band gave out for free at their concerts in 2005...

Generations Live 2005 Concert Tour and free CD

In 2005 Journey was on the long Generations Tour.

At each concert they were giving away free copies of the new studio album, "Generations".

It's a very different Journey album and delivers some good rock and roll.

Each member gets a turn at lead vocals on at least one song on the album.

Here are the front and back covers of the album given out...

Journey "The Place In Your Heart" single cover artwork

Here is the cover art for one of the hardest to find singles from Journey.

It's "The Place In Your Heart" from the album "Generations".

The single was released in 2005 by Sanctuary Records.

It is the only single from the album, "Generations", and it's a promotional item only, it was never released to the public.

2005 - A great year for Journey!

The year 2005 was a great year for Journey...

This was the year that Journey finally received a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
It was January 21, 2005, one day before Steve Perry's birthday.

It was the 30th anniversary of the first album, Journey, released April 1, 1975.

August 29, 2005 was the release of "Generations".

On October 5th, 2005 Journey was playing at Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.
This was my birthday and I took my wife for 2 nights at the Hotel. The plan was simple, we were going to spend the night before and the night of the concert at the resort. We went out exploring Temecula's wine tasting for a while and did some sight seeing the day of the concert.

In preparing for the concert, we had another great buffet dinner and were plenty early for the concert. This was the first time I've been to a concert at a Hotel before, I've only gone to concert venues to see Journey in the past.

Usually there's a smell in air that I associate with concerts and that was missing this time. There was no stadium beer this time, there were full drinks and bottled beer. I drank as much as I could without missing the show waiting in line. This didn't seem like a concert going crowd, I didn't feel these people were really into Journey. They knew the songs, but it was for sure a different crowd than I've seen at a Journey concert.

I tried to wear my Departure Tour Jacket but it wouldn't fit at all, so I wore my 2002 Polo style Journey shirt I bought at the Geek Theatre where I first saw the band with Steve Augeri. I think it was my shirt that caught Ross Valory's attention. We seemed to have some kind of eye contact connection happening. I was not close to the stage but close enough to see the band's faces. I've never met Ross, I don't know him at all, but I think he thought I was someone he knew. If I tried, I'll bet I could have gotten to the stage, but then he'd realize he didn't know me.
The band put on another great show. I really miss seeing these guys in concert, but this was the last Journey concert that I've been to. I really do want to see the band with Arnel Pineda too.
