My JOURNEY DEPARTURE TOUR JACKET from 1980

Take a wild ride through the 1980's as I discuss my Journey Tour Jacket 1980. I bought this in the early to mid 1980's from a guy and it's been my favorite jacket ever since. I can't wear it anymore but it's in perfect condition. I'll show it off in the video below.

Journey at the Los Angeles Forum 1983

Journey played at the Los Angles Forum for 5 days in 1983! It was August 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th!

Sold Out all 5 days!!

I share my T-shirt from the event with you now...

I went to the concert for all five days. I always thought it was 5 nights in a row, but this shows that there was a break on August 8th. This was the last time that I saw Steve Perry in concert. (The next time was in person, but that's for another day). I took 5 different friends to the concert. This concert was a huge deal in 1983. I did have some trouble finding people to go with me as my friends were all into new wave, certainly not Journey. Then everyone wanted to go once they played the first night. I was turning people away by the last night.

Here's a copy of my tickets for the first night. $15.00 was a lot of money in 1983, especially for a 20 year old.

Journey Force Folding Sunglasses

 The Journey Folding Sunglasses

Journey started selling folding sunglasses in 1984. I got my pair in 1985 through the Journey Force which is the name of the old Journey fan club. I made a video to show off the sunglasses. I also talk about the current tour.

I talk about my tickets to Journey's Freedom tour. I also show off my past Ticket stubs from all the times I've seen Journey. At the end of the video, I show off the Journey Folding Sunglasses that were on sale at the Journey Fan Club between 1984-1995. May the Journey Force be with you.

The 1990 Tour Dates for the Band Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain got involved with, "Bad English". The dates are March - May 1990.

The rest of the issue deals with Merchandise...

Journey Classic Rock Band Poster printed on not ordinary paper, Looks Extraordinary!

I found this Ad for an extraordinary Journey Poster on Amazon.com.

You don't want to miss out on this one, as you can see it's the entire band on a vivid color 24X36 inch, or millimeter, or feet, or whatever Journey poster! This poster of Journey is not counterfeit or made from cheap material, in fact the quality is so good that it's not even printed on real paper.

Journey's line-up has changed over the years, so it's anyone's guess as to who is who in this poster. Hurry and get yours now, before they take this down off Amazon.

The Journey Force Fan Club Newsletter from January 1988 part IV; Force News

This week we end the Journey Force Newsletter from January 1988. This includes the Pen Pals and Merchandise pages. The tuxedo still looks great to me!

The Big Force news this edition is that they are changing the way they are numbering the Journey Force editions. Due to space limitations (or not wanting to add another page) they are holding off on announcing the winners of the Questionnaire from last edition...

Journey Force Newsletter from November 1987 part IV - Conclusion

This weeks edition of The Journey Force Newsletter dated November 1987 is all about Bits and Pieces. We begin with the Pen Pals section which is was the only way Journey fans could find each other beside going to a show.

My favorite part this week is That Rolling Stone Magazine voted "Raised On Radio" number in the top pop/rock/soul category. Really, of all time albums ever, even in 1987 seems to me a bit shocking that of all the Journey albums, "Raised On Radio" is the 4th on a list of top 10 albums of all time.

Ted nugget says that Neal Schon has in fact come close to reversing the axis of the Earth in doing such brilliant Guitar solos. That I do believe! Neal has been one of the best Guitar Players of all time almost all his life.

In other news of the day, Steve Perry's song, "Happy To Give" makes it onto the soundtrack to the surf film, "North Shore".

The Journey Force Newsletter from April 1, 1987 part 3, Merchandise

The Final three pages of The Journey Force Newsletter from April 1, 1987 brings us PEN PALS.

Before the internet, before there even computers. Actually, before there were cars, there Pen Pals. With email, they have taken a whole new shape today. It was a way that people communicated over a long distance. If people moved to another State, someone you met at summer camp or on vacation, a distant relative, or whatever, it was the only way to communicate until the telephone came along. Long distance calls are more expensive so writing was the way to do it. It faded out as the years went on until email brought it back.

It looks like Journey is now offering a new "Raised On Radio" Jacket. I'm glad I passed on this one and very sorry I never got the "Tux & Tails" Jacket. I wish the merchandise wasn't only clothing, I wish they were more creative. The Car would have been cool. A Radio that played Journey songs and was a real radio would have really cool! Jewelry and things in the past were always great, but none this time around.

I no longer live at the address on the last page so I can't become your Pen Pal at that address...

The Journey Force was also replaced by The Steve Perry Information Network in 1994

The very last issue of The Journey Force Newsletter was sent out in January 1994. This was the end of the 20 year Journey and all that was created around it.

The Merchandise portion of The Journey Force turned into Fan Asylum which was a merchandise outlet for many groups including Journey. Steve Perry was not part of it.

Steve Perry started the "Steve Perry Information Network", or "S.P.I.N." This was supposed to be  network of members that would work a lot like any fan club except the internet was beginning so the word "Network" got confusing. I don't exactly know how long it was in business or how well it did. My guess is that it died out after the excitement of Steve Perry's new album and tour was over.

Here is the postcard with all the sign-up instructions and what the $25 price will cover...

Journey Raised On Radio Tour Book 1986 Concert Program, part 10

The Raised On Radio Tour started out as Journey greatest Tour ended with the breaking up of what was left of the band.

Through all these years since 1973, Journey has proved to be a great band with four members.

Journey has proven to be one of the World's greatest bands with five members.

This attempt with three members though, will soon prove to be a disaster.

At the end of the Raised On Radio Tour, in 1997, the band went their Separate Ways and it wouldn't be until November of 1991 that we would hear from them again.

Here is the back cover of Raised On Radio Tour Book...

Also included in the Tour Book was an ad to join the Journey Force and the list of merchandise available at the time. It was one page, printed on both sides...
