The New Journey - 2001's Arrival with Steve Augeri on Vocals

In 1998 Journey released a song on the "Armageddon" soundtrack called "Remember Me".

Journey continued on with a new lead singer, Steve Augeri and a new drummer, Deen Castronovo.

The first album to be released with the new line-up was on April 3, 2001 when Columbia Records released "Arrival", Journey's 16th U.S. album. Actually 17 if you count "In The Beginning".

The album contains 15 songs in the U.S. and 16 songs in Japan. The Japanese release was in late 2000, while the U.S. release was delayed.

Journey's Friday The 13th show from July 13, 1979 proves stardom ahead in their future

Mid-way through the eight month "Evolution" Tour, on July 13th 1979, Journey went on stage at Assembly Theater in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The band played for over an hour and 30 minutes playing hits from the "Evolution" and "Infinity" as well as a few songs from the albums before Steve Perry joined the band.

Steve's voice is a very nice addition to those which really make them come alive. I've always thought the balance between Steve Perry's and Gregg Rolie's voice is part of what made the band so special.

Here is a copy of the review that was in The Tulsa Tribune the next day, Saturday July 14, 1979.

It's a great review about the band, the show and the massive stardom they are about to embark upon.

The New Journey - 2000's Arrival with Steve Augeri

In 1998 after Steve Perry refused to tour, he was replaced by a new vocalist, Steve Augeri.

Steve Augeri came from a manager position at The Gap clothing stores.

Before The Gap, Steve was the vocalist for the band "Tall Stories".

In 2000 the first Journey Album without Steve Perry since 1977 was released in Japan.

It took until April 3rd, 2001 before the USA would see the new album, ARRIVAL.

Steve Perry For The Love Of Strange Medicine Post Card / Sticker Promo from 1994

This is the Steve Perry "For The Love Of Strange Medicine" Promo Post Card from Fan Asylum.

The Journey Force had dissolved into a company called "Fan Asylum" which sold merchandise for a number of bands.

Steve Perry's 2nd Solo album, "For The Love Of Strange Medicine", released in 1994, came ten years after his first one, "Street Talk" which was released in 1984.

I received this Post Card in the mail promoting the Release date of the album as July 19, 1994.

The card is also a sticker which peels off the Post Card backing...

Journey Frontiers Bumper Sticker from 1983

Frontiers, the 9th US album from the musical group "Journey".

Frontiers was the first album cover to deviate from the feathers and scarab ideas.

The pictures of the band were of them skydiving.

Skydiving, even 35 years later it doesn't make any sense to me, Skydiving?

Journey Force (Fan Club) Newsletter September 1, 1984, part 2 of 2

The Journey Force Newsletter by this time only really talks about solo projects.

This week we begin with part 2 of the merchandise page...

Second is the "Questions answered" page, and yet again, to make it easier and faster for the fan club, they've spent an entire page on the "Mailing With Department Codes". A New Merchandise / UPS Manifest System and the definition of an invoice is explained.

Journey Force (Fan Club) Newsletter September 1, 1984, part 1 of 2

At this point the Journey Force Newsletter talked about solo projects more than the band itself, because there really was no band at this time.

Solo projects were taking over. Steve Smith was beginning his third album with Vital Information, Steve Perry riding high on the success of hid first solo album, Street Talk, and Neal Schon is busy playing Guitar in England, working with John Entwistle, the bassist from The Who.

Gregg Rolie is mentioned in this edition for his first solo album and for playing in the Rockdogs Softball Game.

This edition also includes more Task Force instructions. The whole Task Force idea never really worked, but here's some great nostalgia while trying to work it out.

We end this week on the first half of the merchandise page, and remember non of these items can be ordered now.

Journey - They're the group taking everyone to "Infinity" at Sam Goody and the Palladium

A great ad from March 1978. The is the Journey "Infinity" ad which features cut-outs of the band on an airplane.

The added bonus is the "meeting in person" at Sam Goody Record Stores and the mention of the Live Show at the New York Palladium on March 25th 1978.

It's a great black and white ad but I'm not sure exactly what magazine this came out of.

This is the first timeI've seen print using the term "new Journey"...

Steve Perry was Journey's third lead vocalist for 20 years, staring in 1978.

Journey has had three lead vocalists since his departure from the band in 1998.

The Departure era for Journey is when they started filling up large stadiums. It was starting to get big.

Ross Valory has been a part of Journey since 1973, give or take 1986-1995.

Departure Tour Book Conclusion - Last 6 pages

The Departure World Tour Program last 5 pages and the back cover starts off with color.

The Departure Tour spawned two other Journey albums;

The "Dream, After Dream" soundtrack album for Japan

"Captured" The Departure Tour recorded live.

The band took a noticeable different direction in 1981 with the release of "Escape"

The Departure World Tour was Journey's biggest tour to date and the audience just kept getting bigger.

It surely was A Journey Beyond Evolution and through Infinity...

1996 TRIAL BY FIRE The Journey Continues...

In April 1996, Steve Perry, Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain, Ross Valory and Steve Smith started recording "TRIAL BY FIRE".

Trial By Fire was Journey's 10th Studio Album and first album after a nearly 10 year hiatus by the band.

This week we have the "The Journey Continues..." Biography. This has a lot of facts and trivia about the band and includes a Journey Discography (to 1996).

Also included is a list of top charting Journey singles.

Journey Reunited in 1996-1997 for an album titled "Trial By Fire".

Trial By Fire was released on October 22, 1996 which spawned the #1 single, "When You Love A Woman", which was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group.

Part 4 of the Departure Tour Book from 1980

Here is the next five pages of the Departure Tour Book.

We start with an article titled "The Story Of Journey" which tells the story through 1979's "Evolution". The band has the same line-up and therefore used the same pages from the 1979 Tour Book.

The next three pages are black and white pictures of the band members including Gregg Rolie. This was Gregg's last tour with Journey.

This was the tour that was recorded for 1981's "Captured" album.

The last page included here is another article titled "Journey: Behind The Scenes" which tells the earlier story of Journey through 1978's "Infinity"
